  • The difficult situation lived in the winter of the 1914-15 and the economic crisis inherited of the warlike confrontation between Germany and France were two unforgettable memories as much for the population as for Father Francisco Lara.
  • The collection of the harvest and subsequent sale supposed, year after year, an endemic evil which they were put under the majority of the families in our locality. To this situation it was necessary to add that “the production of the field was much higher than the capacity of purchase of small owners (mayetas) of the town, being that nor they could gather all the grape and that by the same was for some poor families was a true Calvary the placement of the fruit of his modest patrimony,, and the poor harvest, without nobody could avoid it, has been devalued to the extent of not compensating nor by far, the works to take care the vineyards”.
  • Given this situation, the Father Francisco Lara began to caress the desire to found a UNION and incorporate the largest possible number of small owners and whose mission was to benefit everyone. On the one hand, "to buyers, to help in the difficult task of collecting all the harvest" and by another one "to the poors, providing the means to collect their fruit without delay and without having plead with tears the purchase of harvest" .
  • That desire became reality during the nights of August 1922 when a committee of citizens composed for eighty-six men moved by the impetus and confidence for a better future proposed to the Father Francisco Lara its desire to initiate the project that our Father, from long time, caressed.
  • "And like a pilgrim walking for the lonely and rugged slopes of the sacrifice, taking a great faith, warm enthusiasm and affection, invincible arrived to top of the mountain, because God wanted to come in my aid, and declared, in providing me forces, their kindness and welcoming for the santa and noble rightness to serve to the poors and the huge SOCIAL WORK that I must carry out .... ".
  • The AGRICULTURAL CATHOLIC UNION of CHIPIONA was born.
